SPORTS ROUNDUP: Glendale college men win WSC South meet

MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD

Glendale Community College in Western State Conference South Meet: The Vaqueros won the event Friday at Moorpark College with 186 points. Glendale received first-place finishes from Jourdan Honore in the 100-meter event in 11.40 seconds., Issac Diosdado in the 3,000 (8 minutes 56.13 seconds), Nick La Croix in the hammer (51.89 meters), Quaid Vuncannon in the discus (42.88 meters), Jason Ahn in the javelin (54.06 meters) and Siraj Landery in the high jump (1.78 meters).

WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD

Glendale Community College in Western State Conference South Meet: Glendale placed second in the event Friday at Moorpark College with 146 points. Those recording first-place performances for the Vaqueros were Grace Zamudio in the 1,500-meter race in 4 minutes 44.24 seconds and the 3,000 (10:24.15), Lilia Asserian in the 800 (2:19.39) and Ana Tonga in the javelin (30.69 meters).

SOFTBALL

Flintridge Prep 7, Sierra Canyon 6: The host Rebels opened their season Friday, rallying for a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh to earn a nonleague win.

Ashley Kim had a double and triple for Flintridge Prep. She also stole one base and drove in a run.

BOYS’ TENNIS

St. Francis 14, Village Christian 4: Host St. Francis (4-2) received a pair of singles sweeps to defeat Village Christian on Friday at Fremont Tennis Center. Kristian Estebe won, 6-2, 6-0, 6-4 for the Golden Knights, who got a 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 win from Mostafa El Harazi.
