After CIF Southern Section semifinal endings, the Crescenta Valley boys’ basketball team and the Flintridge Prep boys’ and girls’ basketball squads find themselves preparing for state beginnings.

On Sunday, the CIF-State office unveiled the state basketball pairings.

The Falcons will open up Wednesday in the CIF-State Division I Southern California bracket against host Crenshaw, while the Flintridge Prep boys’ team, in Division 5, travels to face Village Christian and the Rebels’ girls’ team has the farthest hike, heading north to take on Immanuel.

Despite garnering the sixth seed after advancing to the Southern Section Division 5-AA semifinals, Flintridge Prep’s girls’ team (19-9) opens the D5 state tourney against host Immanuel of Reedley, which has a 20-7 record and won a CIF Central Section title. The winner of Wednesday’s game will face View Park or Vincent Memorial in Saturday’s second round.

Flintridge Prep’s boys’ team (22-6) has a close drive to face Village Christian (26-4) on Wednesday. Both squads were upset in the Southern Section semifinals. The winner Wednesday will play Saturday against The Rock Academy or View Park.

Crescenta Valley, making its second consecutive trip to state, takes on a Crenshaw team (19-9) that was a City Section runner-up. If the Falcons (23-7) move on to Saturday’s second round, they’ll face second-seeded Clovis West or Rancho Verde.
