SPORTS ROUNDUP: Glendale Community College baseball grabs another conference victory

COLLEGE BASEBALL

Glendale Community College 6, LA Valley College 2: Keaton Leach picked up the win on for the host Vaqueros on Thursday in a Western State Conference South Division contest at Stengel Field. The freshman threw seven innings without giving up an earned run and also struck out three batters. Michael Robinson picked up the save, his first of the season.

Offensively, Glendale was led by Justin Jones, who went two for four with two runs batted in. Julian Jarrard also had a two-RBI double in the game for the Vaqueros, who improved to 16-5, 11-2.

BOYS’ GOLF

St. Francis 194, Alemany 198: Michael Finney carded an even-par 36 on Thursday to earn medalist honors in a Mission League match at Hansen Dam Golf Course.

The Golden Knights (5-3, 4-2 in league) received 39s from Vince De Pinto and Nathan Han and 40s from Johnny Brandt and Jack Tenney.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Flintridge Prep 3, Rio Hondo Prep 1: Dante Fergoso collected a team-high 12 kills and Mike Lii added 38 assists Thursday to lead the visiting Rebels to a 25-17, 25-23, 24-26, 25-19 Prep League win.

Flintridge Prep (10-6, 2-0 in league) received 18 digs from Kurt Kozacik and 10 kills and five blocks from Kareem Ismail.

BASEBALL

Cajon 5, Glendale 1: The Nitros (1-8) fell at home Wednesday in a Babe Herman Tournament game.
