SPORTS ROUNDUP: Crescenta Valley baseball’s Ted Boeke no-hits Loyola

BASEBALL

Crescenta Valley 1, Loyola 0: Ted Boeke got the win, the shutout and a no-hitter in the second game of a nonleague doubleheader on Tuesday night at USC.

Boeke also doubled and came around to score the game’s only run when Michael Russo drove him in.

The win improved the Falcons to 9-5 and was their fourth win in a row.

Brian Gadsby threw a complete game for the 2-1 victory, striking out seven, allowing four hits and an unearned run in the first game of the doubleheader.

Crescenta Valley swept host Chula Vista Mater Dei in a nonleague doubleheader Saturday The Falcons opened with a 13-1 win before recording an 11-4 victory.

In the first game, Ted Boeke hit a grand slam and Brett Klein had two doubles and three runs batted in for the Falcons. In the second game, Boeke hit a three-run home run and drove in another run.

Arcadia 6, Glendale 2: Visiting Glendale fell Tuesday in a Pacific League contest. The Nitros dropped to 1-9, 0-2 in league.

La Salle 10, St. Francis 6: The Golden Knights (2-9) fell Monday in a nonleague home game at Jackie Robinson Field.

BOYS’ GOLF

St. Francis 194, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 199: The Golden Knights received a one-under-par 35 from Johnny Brant on Tuesday to pick up a Mission League home win at Brookside Golf Course No. 1. St. Francis (7-3, 6-2 in league) got a 38 from Vince De Pinto, 39 from Michael Finney and 40 from Joe Sarni.

On Monday, St. Francis picked up a 204-208 win against Notre Dame at Lakeside Golf Club. Brandt shot a four-over-par 39 for the Golden Knights, who got 40s from De Pinto and Nathan Han.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Crescenta Valley 16, La Salle 2: The visiting Falcons (3-3) picked up a nonleague victory Monday.

MEN’S TENNIS

Glendale Community College 6, Cerritos College 3: The Vaqueros (9-5) registered a nonconference road victory Tuesday.

MEN’S GOLF

Glendale Community College in neutral site match: The Vaqueros took fourth in a seven-team event Monday at Soule Park Golf Club in Ojai. Glendale, which shot a 382, received a two-over-par 74 from Clayton Ojeda. The Vaqueros also got a 75 from Tavit Garabedian, 76 from Derrik Hubbard, 78 from Ryan Miranda and 79 from Jin Park.

MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD

Vaqueros capture Western State Conference Inland Meet: Glendale Community College finished first in the meet at Antelope Valley College on Friday. Glendale received first-place finishes from Nick Lacroix in the hammer (52.95 meters) and shot put (13.30 meters), Kurt Lutz in the 3,000-meter race in 8 minutes 58.04, Quaid Vuncannon in the discus (49.49 meters) and Jason Ahn in the javelin (50.22 meters).

WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD

Glendale Community College in Western State Conference Inland Meet: The Vaqueros placed second in the meet at Antelope Valley College on Friday. Glendale picked up five first-place finishes, including two from Grace Zamudio in the 800-meter in 2 minutes 20.01 seconds and the 3,000 (11:05.01). Also posting first-place efforts for Glendale were Charlene Quintanilla in the 1,500 (4:57.75), Nafasi Mataei in the 100 (12.33) and Ana Tonga in the javelin (30.40 meters).
