SPORTS ROUNDUP: St. Francis High golf team sews up playoff berth
BOYS’ GOLF
St. Francis 195, Crespi 218: Johnny Brandt and Nathan Han carded one-over-par 37s on Tuesday to lead the visiting Golden Knights in a Mission League match at Braemar Country Club and clinch a postseason berth. Vince De Pinto and Michael Mozilo each had 40s for St. Francis (9-7, 7-4 in league).
St. Francis 385, Crescenta Valley 417: Vince De Pinto of St. Francis and Crescenta Valley’s Paul Park each carded five-over-par 75s on Monday to share medalist honors in a nonleague match at Brookside Golf Course No. 2. Joe Sarni added a 76 for St. Francis.
Webb 191, Flintridge Prep 218: Jack Bouchard finished with a three-over-par 38 on Monday for the Rebels in a Prep League match at Marshall Canyon Golf Course. Flintridge Prep, which finished 7-7, 0-6 in league, received a 39 from Dylan Colliflower.
BASEBALL
Crescenta Valley 8, Muir 0: Pitcher Ted Boeke struck out 10 in four innings to lead the visiting Falcons to a Pacific League win on Tuesday. Austin Brines had two doubles and drove in two runs for the Falcons (14-7, 6-2 in league).
Burbank 13, Hoover 3: Pierce Velasquez had three hits Tuesday for the host Tornadoes in a Pacific League contest. Fidel Hernandez scored three runs for Hoover (4-13, 2-6 in league).
Pasadena 5, Glendale 0: Host Glendale suffered a Pacific League defeat Tuesday to drop to 2-14, 1-7 in league.
SOFTBALL
Crescenta Valley 22, Muir 0 (five innings): The host Falcons picked up a Pacific League victory to improve to 10-8-1, 6-2 in league.
Burbank 17, Hoover 0 (five innings): The visiting Tornadoes fell Tuesday in a Pacific League game at McCambridge Park. Hoover dropped to 5-8, 1-7 in league.
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Harvard-Westlake 3, St. Francis 2: Charles McCarthy finished with 24 kills for the visiting Golden Knights, who saw the Wolverines post a 25-15, 25-18, 22-25, 18-25, 16-14 Mission League win Tuesday. St. Francis (5-10, 1-8 in league) got 33 assists from David Thompson and 15 kills and 12 assists from Chris Thompson.
BOYS’ TENNIS
Glendale 15, Pasadena 3: Glendale received a sweep from Arin Meserkhani (6-0, 6-0, 6-2) to earn a Pacific League home win Tuesday. The Nitros (5-9, 3-8 in league) got a doubles sweep from Nawaf Tokatly and Mher Krikor (6-0, 6-0, 6-1).
Burbank 10, Hoover 8: Hoover suffered a Pacific League road defeat Tuesday.
Harvard-Westlake 18, St. Francis 0: Visiting St. Francis fell Tuesday in a Mission League match at L.A. Valley College to dip to 8-8, 4-5 in league.
