Sports Roundup: Flintridge Sacred Heart volleyball reaches Saugus semifinals

Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in Saugus High Tournament: The Tologs fell to Alta Loma, 25-19, 15-25, 11-15, in a semifinal match Saturday. Earlier, Flintridge Sacred Heart registered a 25-22, 23-25, 15-6 quarterfinal victory against Saugus. Sophia Coffey had a combined 60 assists Saturday to earn all-tournament honors.

Glendale in Los Altos Tournament: While the Nitros were unable to defend their tournament crown, they still posted a successful 4-1 run through the tournament, which included an 18-16 win over the host Conquerors in the third-place game Saturday evening.

The Nitros kept their hopes of repeating as Los Altos Tournament champions alive until late and reached the semifinals before they came to an end Saturday morning. Glendale opened the tournament with wins over Rowland (12-5) and Crespi (17-7) on Friday and then pulled out a dramatic 14-13 victory over Walnut on Saturday. The Nitros suffered their first loss in the semifinals to Great Oak, 16-14, which put them in a third-place match against host Los Altos Saturday evening.

Flintridge Prep in Los Altos Tournament: The Rebels’ shot at a tournament title came to an end Saturday morning when they suffered a 16-6 loss to Claremont. They bounced back with a 10-8 victory over Grossmont of San Diego to set up a rematch with South Pasadena for fifth place Saturday evening. Unfortunately for Flintridge Prep (5-7), the Tigers were victorious again, this time by a 10-7 margin.
