Glendale Community College women’s golfer Sarah Soderberg carded a 12-over-par 84 on Monday to finish with a two-round tally of 170 at the Western State Conference individual tournament at The Ranch Course at Alisal in Santa Barbara.

Soderberg, a freshman and the lone player on the Vaqueros, opened the tournament Sunday with an 86. Soderberg placed fifth in conference to earn all-conference honors and advance to the Southern California Regionals. The regionals, which will include the top 12 finishers from the Western State Conference, will be held Sunday and Nov. 11 at the same venue.

“She played real well and the conditions were fine,” Glendale first-year Coach Natalie Guidry said. “She needs to work some more on her short game and chipping.

“It’s her first year in a tournament setting. She’s very happy to get all-conference and she knows she’ll have a chance to go to the state tournament with a good showing next week.”
