Sports Roundup: Glendale High boys’ soccer opens with lopsided win

BOYS’ SOCCER

Glendale 13, Village Christian 0: The host Nitros received three goals apiece from Levon Petrosyan, Avo Harotunyan, Aram Atanian and Menua Nazarian to earn a season-opening nonleague victory Tuesday at Moyse Field.

Flintridge Prep 1, Burbank 0: The Rebels kick-started their season with a victory in nonleague play Tuesday afternoon at the Glendale Sports Complex.

Junior midfielder Ari Baranian scored the game-winner in the 62nd minute off an assist from Tim Bates. Sophomore goalie Hamilton Evans finished with 10 saves for the Rebels (1-0).

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Glendale 2, Village Christian 0: Visiting Glendale got one second-half goal apiece from Matilda Hovsepian and Aline Graham to record a season-opening nonleague win Tuesday.

Flintridge Prep 3, Burbank 3: Katherine Pinney registered a pair of goals and Chelsea Johnson added one for the visiting Rebels in a season-opening match Tuesday. The Rebels overcame a 3-1 deficit in the second half.
