BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Crescenta Valley 76, Cesar Chavez 18: The Falcons improved to 2-1 on the young season with a win Thursday in the San Fernando Valley Invitational against a thoroughly overmatched opponent.

Kyle Currie scored all 22 of his points in the first half, knocking down five three-pointers and going eight for eight from the field.

Eric Patten also had a big game, turning in 18 points, eight rebounds and three assists, while Connor Van Ginkel had 10 points and four steals.

Crescenta Valley returns to action in the tournament Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Alemany.

Hoover 85, Pasadena Armenian General Benevolent Union 27: The Tornadoes (2-1) received 13 points from Rodrick Karamikhodian and 12 from Teo Davidian in a consolation game of the Providence Tournament on Thursday.

Hoover will return to tournament play at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Price 61, St. Francis 55: Kyle Leufroy finished with 24 points and Noah Willerford added 13 on Thursday for the Golden Knights (1-1) in a pool-play game of the Rose City Classic at Maranatha High.

St. Francis will next compete in a tournament contest at 5 p.m. Friday.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

St. Bonaventure 51, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 33: Casey Johnson finished with 15 points on Thursday for the Tologs (2-1) in a pool-play game of the Duarte Tournament.

Flintridge Sacred Heart will next meet Glendale in the tournament’s third-place game at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Glendale 63, Sotomayor 22: The Nitros (2-1) recorded a pool-play victory Thursday in the Duarte Tournament.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Marshall Fundamental 3, Flintridge Prep 1: The Rebels surrendered the match’s first three goals and suffered their first loss of the season on the road in nonleague action Thursday afternoon.

Tim Bates scored the lone goal for the Rebels (2-1) off an assist from Cole Rademacher in the second half. Flintridge Prep missed a chance to cut its deficit even more when the Rebels missed on a penalty kick, also in the second half.

Goalie Hamilton Evans tallied seven saves for the Rebels, who are next in action Friday afternoon versus Kilpatrick.
