Sports Roundup: Hoover basketball held down by Los Altos

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Los Altos 60, Hoover 48: The Tornadoes (4-2) fell Tuesday in a pool-play game of the Pioneer Tournament. Kevin Nazari had 14 points for the Tornadoes, who got 13 from Teo Davidian.

Hoover began the tournament Monday with a 65-60 pool-play win against Compton Centennial. Nazari finished with 21 points for Hoover, which got 18 from Roderick Karamkhodian.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Flintridge Prep 3, Milken Community 0: Katherine Pinney registered a pair of goals Monday and Chelsea Johnson added one to carry the host Rebels (2-0-3) to a nonleague win.

La Canada 7, Hoover 0: The Tornadoes were down just 2-0 at the half, but the Spartans came on in the second half Tuesday to notch the notch the nonleague win at Hoover (0-6).

Tha Spartans improved to 7-0.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Marshall Fundamental 3, Hoover 2: Artin Almary and Kevin De Paz each scored a goal Monday for the visiting Tornadoes (2-2) in a nonleague match.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Westridge 13, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 11: Mary Farley finished with seven goals Monday for the host Tologs (4-4) in a nonleague match.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

San Diego City College 64, Glendale Community College 56: The Vaqueros fell Sunday in the championship game of the San Diego City Tournament. Ana Tongs contributed 12 points and six rebounds for Glendale (6-6). Elsie Mejia added 10 points, seven steals and five assists for the Vaqueros en route to receiving all-tournament honors.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

Glendale Community College 72, Cerritos College 57: The visiting Vaqueros (6-2) received 21 points and five steals from Jalen Etienne and 16 points and 11 rebounds from Gor Plavchyan on Friday to pick up a nonconference victory.
