SPORTS ROUNDUP: St. Francis High basketball heads toward the San Gabriel Valley Classic semifinals

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

St. Francis 51, Ayala 46: Junior guard Kyle Leufroy had another brilliant game, scoring a game-high 25 points to lead the Golden Knights to a bracket victory in the San Gabriel Valley Classic on Friday evening.

With the victory, the Golden Knights (9-2) advanced to the tournament semifinals on Saturday evening at 7:30 at Monrovia High versus Bonita.

Hoover 65, Alhambra 62: Teo Davidian finished with 22 points and Kevin Nazari added 14 on Friday to carry the Tornadoes (8-3) in a Whittier High Tournament contest.

Village Christian 69, Glendale 36: The Nitros fell in pool play action of the Hart Tournament for a second straight day on Friday afternoon.

With the defeat, Glendale falls to 3-6.

BOYS’ SOCCER

Flintridge Prep 4, La Salle 0: Cole Rademacher collected a pair of goals Friday for the Rebels (7-3) in a consolation match of the Ontario Christian Tournament. Henry Griffith and Michael Weinstein had one goal apiece for Flintridge Prep, which received three saves from goalkeeper Hamilton Evans.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Village Christian 41, Holy Family 36: Despite eight points each from Charisse Talaro and Melissa Chan, the Gaels missed on a chance to start a winning streak in falling in pool play action of the Grant Tournament on Friday afternoon.

With the defeat, Holy Family, which won its first game of the season Thursday, dropped to 1-8 and will face Van Nuys at 3 p.m. in the pool play finale Saturday at Grant High.
