Sports Roundup: Flintridge Prep volleyball stays perfect in league

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Flintridge Prep 3, Rio Hondo Prep 0: The visiting Rebels received 16 kills and 25 digs from Dante Fregoso to earn a 25-22, 25-18, 25-21 Prep League win Tuesday. Trip Westmoreland added 12 kills and five blocks for Flintridge Prep, which improved to 15-4, 6-0 in league.

Harvard-Westlake 3, St. Francis 2: David Thompson of St. Francis collected a career-best 56 assists Tuesday, but Harvard-Westlake recorded a 26-24, 25-23, 19-25, 14-25, 15-6 Mission League win. Thomas Lund added 15 kills for the Golden Knights (3-7 in league).

Burroughs 3, Glendale 0: The host Nitros suffered a 25-9, 25-14, 25-18 Pacific League loss Tuesday. Glendale dropped to 1-10 in league.

BASEBALL

Glendale 13, Muir 3: Tyler Lousararian, Conner Rodriguez, Thad Wilson, Brandon Keen, Sean Harris and Justin French all had multiple hits Tuesday to lead the host Nitros in a Pacific League contest. Glendale starting pitcher Daniel Choi struck out seven to pick up the win. Glendale improved to 7-12-1, 4-5 in league.

Arcadia 12, Hoover 1 (five innings): Visiting Hoover got two hits and one run batted in from Javier Cisneros in a Pacific League contest called because of the 10-run mercy rule. The Tornadoes fell to 10-9, 3-6 in league.

BOYS’ GOLF

Flintridge Prep in Prep League prelims: Jonah Sacks had an 11-over-par 81 on Tuesday at Brookside Golf Course No. 2 in Pasadena. Sacks is tied for eighth entering Thursday’s league final at Brookside Golf Course No. 2. The top four finishers advance to the CIF Individual Regionals, which will be held May 12 in Oxnard.

Sacks finished with three birdies, but had a triple-bogey on the par-five 11th hole.

Crescenta Valley 197, Burroughs 229: Paul Park and David Holeman of Crescenta Valley shared medalist honors with two-over-par 38s on Monday in a nonleague match at De Bell Golf Club.

SOFTBALL

Glendale 15, Muir 0 (five innings): Jordan Lousararian and Rachel Bartamian combined on a no-hitter in a Pacific League contest called because of the 10-run mercy rule Tuesday. Bartamian had three hits, three runs batted in and scored three runs for Glendale, which got three hits, two runs batted in and two runs scored from Grace Sinisterra. The Nitros improved to 13-5, 5-4 in league.

Flintridge Prep 8, Chadwick 5: Taylor Yoshida scored two runs and stole four bases Tuesday to help the host Rebels earn a Prep League victory. Flintridge Prep pitcher Therese Oshiro struck out 11 to help the Rebels improve to 5-11, 2-6 in league.

Chaminade 6, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 1: The visiting Tologs (8-6 overall) fell Tuesday in a Mission League game. On Saturday, the Tologs split a pair of games in the Spring Fling Tournament. Flintridge Sacred Heart notched a 5-1 victory against Marlborough by scoring at least one run an inning over the final four innings of the contest.

Kaitlin Powers collected two hits, while Kelly Fradet and Lacie Fradet each drove in a run.

In the second game, the Tologs collected only four hits in a 14-0 five-inning defeat to Los Angeles Garfield.

Arcadia 7, Hoover 2: Host Hoover lost a Pacific League game Tuesday. The Tornadoes fell to 6-8, 2-7 in league.
