  • The cultivation, sale and distribution of marijuana for commercial purposes is not explicitly banned in Burbank, but the City Council planned to consider a proposal that would formally prohibit all business-related activities involving the drug.

  • A suspected murderer tied to a series of violent crimes throughout Los Angeles County, including a double shooting in Burbank, was shot by police Monday afternoon after a short foot pursuit on the Golden State (5) Freeway near Burbank, police said.

  • More than 5 pounds of marijuana, 96 butane canisters and other materials commonly used to make butane honey oil were recovered during a traffic stop in Glendale Friday night, police said.

Several hours later at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center, 7 pound, 4 ounce baby boy Gagik was born to Suzanna and Yeso Djglyan.

  • More than 2,000 customers were affected by a power outage in Glendale Tuesday morning, officials said. Utility crews responded, and shortly before 9:50 a.m., power was restored.
