818 Roundup: Officials hope to clear up ‘messy activity’ of Uber, Lyft at Bob Hope Airport

• Officials at Bob Hope Airport are working to get a better handle on the activities of drivers for services such as Uber and Lyft in its parking lots as an early step in efforts to improve the parking situation at the Burbank airfield.

• Glendale Adventist Medical Center earned an A grade from a hospital watchdog group for patient safety while three other local hospitals collectively earned a B and two Cs.

• Firefighters knocked down a fire Friday afternoon that caused an estimated $200,000 in damage to a Burbank home, fire officials said.

• At 2 p.m. today, Laura Numeroff, who wrote the beloved children’s book “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie,” comes to the La Cañada Flintridge Library, where she will read and sign copies of “Raising a Hero,” the first in a series of books about service dogs.

• Members of the Salvation Army’s Burbank corps welcomed 45 guests Thursday to mark the start of their annual holiday red-kettle collection season at a fundraiser luncheon.

• It was a big night in local high school football, with St. Francis rallying against La Salle to pick up a 27-14 victory, Hoover High defeating their cross-town rival Glendale High for the first time since 2009 and Burroughs High beat Burbank High to be crowned the Pacific League champions.

• Set to open before Thanksgiving, if everything goes as planned, online men’s grooming store MenEssentials is bringing their second U.S. retail store to Bob Hope Airport.
