Crescenta Valley Briefs: YMCA of the Foothills to launch new Tribes season; National Night Out Tuesday

The YMCA of the Foothills is preparing to launch another season of its Tribes program for children in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade and their fathers.
Participants take part in games, camping trips, ceremonies and family adventures. There are monthly activities such as pumpkin-carving, roller skating and a pancake breakfast.

The Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce will hold a mixer from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at SIG Property Management, 2937 Honolulu Ave, La Crescenta.
Tickets costs $7 for members and $9 for nonmembers. The event is open to the public and will include food, prizes, beverages and networking opportunities.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s volunteer group associated with the Crescenta Valley station is gearing up for a rummage sale that will be held at the station on Sept. 13 and is seeking donations of goods to sell.
Items sought include gently used clothes, toys, furniture, sporting equipment, housewares and small electronic items. Donations can be dropped off at the station, 4554 Briggs Ave., La Crescenta. The American Legion Post 288 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1614 will host the third annual Community Bingo Night starting at 7 p.m. on Aug. 8. Doors open at 6 p.m.
The bingo event will be held in Healy Hall at Holy Redeemer Middle School, 2361 Del Mar Road, Montrose. Admission costs $10 and includes two cards, 10 games and a bingo dauber. Proceeds will benefit veterans in the community.

A monthly cleanup of the La Crescenta Avenue offramp along the Foothill (210) Freeway will be held from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. on Aug. 9.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to participate in the cleanup, which is organized by the Crescenta Valley Town Council and Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce. Meet at the corner of La Crescenta and Altura avenues.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Equipment will be provided, but volunteers may bring their own gardening tools.
