Police will conduct a DUI checkpoint at an undisclosed location this weekend in Glendale.

The sobriety checkpoint will take place between 6 p.m. on Saturday and 6 a.m. on Sunday at a local intersection, said Glendale Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

“Over the course of the past three years, DUI collisions have claimed one life, but have resulted in 62 injury crashes, harming 86 of our friends and neighbors and 1,867 DUI arrests have been made,” said Sgt. Craig Tweedy.

In addition to looking out for drunk drivers and motorists high on drugs, officers will be checking for unlicensed drivers.

The last checkpoint was earlier this month and netted one alleged drunk driver, while three other motorists were booked on suspicion of being under the influence of drugs.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
