Unemployment rate ticks up slightly

Unemployment rates rose slightly last month in Glendale and Burbank, according to the latest labor report.
The jobless rates in both cities increased by 0.1%, coming in at 4.8% in Burbank and 5.6% in Glendale, according to statistics released Friday by the California Employment Development Department.
The state’s unemployment rate was 5.8% last month, an uptick from 5.7% in November, but a significant improvement from 7.1% in December 2014.
In La Cañada Flintridge, the jobless rate edged up to 3.1%, a 0.1% rise, while it remained steady at 3.2% in the La Crescenta-Montrose area.
