Glendale police seek public’s help in Subway restaurant robbery

Glendale detectives are asking for the public’s help with details about a robbery on Friday at a Subway restaurant, which was held up at gunpoint.

Four employees were inside the restaurant at 4:09 p.m. in the 1600 block of West Glenoaks Boulevard, when the gunman suddenly appeared and was carrying a black bag, according to Glendale Police spokeswoman Tahnee Lightfoot.

The man, whose face was covered, pointed a weapon at an 18-year-old employee, who was seated at a table in front of a computer.

Then the gunman reportedly told the employee he was robbing the restaurant.

He turned to a second employee and demanded money, so she filled the gunman’s bag with an unknown amount of cash, police said.

Once the bag was filled, the gunman fled and was last seen north on Western Avenue.

The gunman was described as white, having no facial hair, between 20 and 35 years old, 165 to 190 pounds and around 6 feet tall.

He was wearing sunglasses and had brandished a blue steel semi-automatic handgun, police said.

The gunman reportedly used his shirt to cover his face, but he didn’t do that until he entered the restaurant, police said.
