Man injured after being hit over head with golf club

A 47-year-old transient man was hospitalized early Sunday after being struck on his head with a golf club outside of a 7-Eleven store in Glendale, police said.

The man was bleeding profusely from the cut on his head and was taken at about 1:55 a.m. to Glendale Adventist Medical Center to be treated, according to Glendale police.

He was allegedly drinking alcohol and was walking with his alleged attacker, who hasn’t been identified, near Broadway and Kenwood Street.

The attacker was reportedly carrying a golf club, which he swung several times for unknown reasons before hitting the man’s head. .

The man feared he would be struck again, so he ran toward the convenience store and asked the clerk to call for help.

Police searched the 100 block of North Kenwood Street for the alleged attacker, but were unable to find him or the golf club.
