Festival Ballet Theatre will host its 10th annual Gala of the Stars, bringing performances by world-renowned ballet dancers to the Orange County stage at Renée and Henry Segerstrom hall.

The gala, scheduled for Aug. 18, will feature performances by guest artists including Misty Copeland and Alexandre Hammoudi of American Ballet Theatre and Ryoichi Hirano of The Royal Ballet, along with ballet dancers from companies such as San Francisco Ballet and New York City Ballet.

The event, which has consistently sold out, is revered for its guest artists from the world’s most recognizable dance companies along with young proteges selected by Youth America Grand Prix, the world’s largest international student dance competition, which awards more than $300,000 in scholarships each year to dance schools within the United States and around the world.

A gourmet dinner with the dancers will be held following the performance at Leatherby’s Cafe Rouge. Tickets are $200 and can be purchased at festivalballet.org/gala-of-the-stars.

“Part of our mission is to bring the best to Orange County,” said Salwa Rizkalla, Festival Ballet Theatre’s artistic director. “You see the different styles and the artistic growth in each performer and I’m always looking forward to bringing the best dancers to the community.”

Rizkalla founded Festival Ballet Theatre in 1988 with plans to enrich Orange County’s appreciation for dance by presenting a season of classical and contemporary performances, educational outreach programs and a nurturing environment for dancers and choreographers.

Gala of the Stars is at 6 p.m. Aug. 18 at Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall, 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa. Tickets are $65 to $95. For more information, call (714) 556-2787 or visit scfta.org.
