Sage Hill boys’ water polo beats Glendora in CIF opener

Connor Cohen had five goals and two steals as the Sage Hill School boys’ water polo team beat visiting Glendora 15-7 in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 5 playoffs on Tuesday.

Zane Drobenko had four goals for the Lightning (20-8), and Adam Watson had two goals and five steals. Matteo Merage scored twice, while Michael Vaden and Cole Callin scored one goal each.

Miles Wilson had eight saves for Sage Hill, which this season also won its first Academy League title in program history.

The Lightning play at No. 2-seeded Oxnard Rio Mesa in a Division 5 second-round match at 5 p.m. Thursday.
