Permit before massage

New massage businesses in Glendale will now be required to get a permit before opening, following City Council direction. The council’s unanimous vote came after some city officials said there was a proliferation of massage establishments in recent years, some of which harbor illegal activity. Glendale News-Press

A simpler parking permit process

Burbank’s process for a preferential parking designation will soon get a little simpler. The City Council last week voted to adopt a new ordinance to alleviate the burden for residents seeking permit parking in their neighborhoods, but officials said it will likely saddle the city’s minimal staff administering the program with a lot more work. Development company executives indicted

Two executives at a Los Angeles-based real estate development company and two of their employees have been indicted on charges they defrauded government agencies of millions of dollars in funds for housing low-income families. The 67-page federal grand jury indictment says Salim Karimi and three others at Advanced Development and Investment Inc. engaged in a conspiracy to fraudulently obtain more than $50 million in loan proceeds for affordable housing projects in Glendale, Chinatown and elsewhere.
