Celebrating and renewing the feminine

A new Laguna event will provide older women with a place where they can bond over the joy of being feminine and embrace the beauty of aging.

The Festival of Goddesses, hosted by Laguna resident and Hollywood “goddess” photographer Yamini Redewill, will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Bridge Hall of the Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s St.

“Some of us have lost our femininity with our roles in life,” Redewill said. “My purpose through this event is to help women balance the feminine with the masculine and bring out their nurturing, caring, loving and intuitive sides more.”

The festival will serve up a day of musical performances, a celebrity panel of authors who will discuss women’s issues, a fashion show supported by local boutiques including Vieux Carre and Sutton Place, as well as Hollywood’s French-inspired Chez Bop, complimentary “light” makeovers, a silent auction and treats and drinks presented by “gorgeous male servers.”

The celebrity panel, which includes “Millionaire Mentor” LuAn Mitchell, author of “Discover Your Inner Goddess Queen,” Kelly Sullivan and psychic healer and counselor Marigold Somerset, will donate their time to discuss topics like aging, financial independence, sensuality and sexuality, and women’s sole purpose as spiritual beings.

The idea for the event, which Redewill said initiated as a fundraiser to support her book-in-progress, “The Natural Goddess: Portraits of Extraordinary Women Over 40,” which features celebrities like Connie Stevens and Marla Maples, has become something much more profound throughout the process.

‘Spirit is behind all of this, driving it. It’s about women finding their voice in a more feminine role.”

Motivational singer Lynn Rose and flamenco guitarist Marc Romero will be among Hollywood’s musical guests, and will be accompanied by ecstatic dancer Beth Schneider who will pay a tribute to Mother Earth.

Redewill will take portraits of goddess attendees, for them to keep.

Her book, due to be published in July, captures ordinary and celebrity women dressed up in nature.

“Being with the earth softens and relaxes them, bringing out their true beauty,” she said.
