Local ladies to audition for ‘Bachelor’

COSTA MESA — For all the single ladies out there — and men who know a good opportunity when they see one — auditions for the female contestants on the next season of “The Bachelor” will take place on July 17.

The audition is expected to draw up to 500 eligible women, double the turnout from last year, to the Westin South Coast Plaza hotel in Costa Mesa, said Jennie Hoffman, the Westin’s director of sales and marketing.

Auditions are for the female casting spots for the 15th season of the hit ABC show, which typically features 25 women competing for a proposal from one man.

“The Bachelor” pulled in more than 15 million viewers for the finale of its 14th season in March, according to Nielsen ratings.

The casting call begins at 1 p.m., though women from as far away as San Diego and Palm Springs began lining up at 9 a.m. last year, Hoffman said. The audition is one of several nationwide.

“It was a stunning success,” Hoffman said. “Women came with their friends and some brought their parents. If you have the day free, then why not [audition]? It’s an experience that you can talk about with your friends when you are older.”

Tenley Molzahn, one of the two finalists from last season, auditioned at the Westin last year, Hoffman said.

Molzahn lives in Huntington Beach, according to her ABC bio.

Hoffman expects that the 393-room hotel will be booked solid by audition participants before the end of this weekend.

“Truly, if I were a bachelor, this is the place I would go,” Hoffman said. “The women are all so lovely and talented.”

Not that visiting men should get too many ideas.

If you go: 1-5 p.m. July 17 at the South Coast Plaza Westin Hotel located at 686 Anton Blvd., Costa Mesa, (714) 540-2500. Applications are available online at https://thebachelor.warnerbros.com/ and will be available the day of the event onsite.
