Fall prevention class offered

Seniors can learn techniques to avoid falling from 12:15 to 1 p.m. Tuesdays through Dec. 14 at the Susi Q Senior Center, 380 Third Street. This three-month class emphasizes improving leg strength, flexibility and balance, eye tracking, posture and breathe work. The workout is two-fold incorporating seated exercises followed by standing exercises using a chair for balance. However, most of the standing exercises can be performed in a seated position. The instructor for this class is Geeta Singh. The cost is $5 per class. Call (949) 497-2441 to register.


Learn to play bridge

Seniors are invited to beginning bridge lessons from noon to 2 p.m. Fridays, beginning Oct. 15, at the Susi Q. The cost is $65 for the course.

The five-session class is designed for the beginning player. Each session will start with a short lesson on basic bidding techniques and responses. The instructor is Ann Cressman, certified bridge instructor.

Intermediate bridge course

An intermediate supervised play bridge course will take place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays until Nov. 15 at the Susi Q. Cost for the seven-session course is $80.

The course is designed for those who have already taken a refresher bridge course at the Susi Q or are a current bridge player and want to continue improving upon their bridge playing skills. The course is taught by Ann Cressman and includes discussion of hands and scoring. Registration and pre-payment are required. For more information, call (949) 497-2441.


Community Needle Art Group

Knitters or crocheters are invited to join a community needle art group once a month and collaborate on projects to benefit the community. The next meeting will be in the game room from 1 to 3:30 p.m. today at the Susi Q. For more information, call (949) 497-2441.


Weekly Bingo with Prizes

The free weekly Bingo game from 10:30 to 11:30 p.m. Thursdays features three additional prizes provided by AristoCare Home Health Services. Join the fun in the game room at the Susi Q Senior Center, 380 Third St.


Wii Lessons

Volunteer high school students are available Mondays and Wednesdays to show you how to play Wii in the lunch room. Stop by to learn how to use this fun gaming console from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This is a free event. For more information, call (949) 497-2441.


Sally's Fund offers transport

Laguna Beach seniors may obtain a ride to the Susi Q Senior Center for lunch or activities by calling Sally's Fund at (949) 715-1866. Those seeking rides should call ahead of time to make sure they can be accommodated. For all other services, such as transportation to doctor appointments, physical therapy, grocery shopping, and errands, call (949) 499-4100.
