Art reception at Soka University is Saturday

An opening reception for Arie A. Galles’ Heartland II, Reflected-Light Paintings will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Founders Hall Art Gallery at Soka University.

Galles is an art professor at Soka and also served as the university’s creative arts program director from 2004 to 2010. He was born in Uzbekistan and has lived in Poland, Israel and Italy.

He works with fluorescent color in his paintings and uses light and reflection to draw the viewer in.
