Global Village

Paddle Out

With My Own Two Hands, a local nonprofit, will hold a “Paddle It Forward” paddleout for charity at 10 a.m. at 3300 Via Lido, Newport Beach. Paddlers will collect trash from the water while completing a yoga class on their boards. With My Own Two Hands will use the proceeds to donate beds, mattresses, desks and supplies for school children to the Nissi Orphanage in Kenya. Southland Opera

Performers from Southland Opera will present an interactive program, “Adventures in Song and Story,” to encourage children to enjoy operas, musicals and other forms of music. The show will feature Hansel and Gretel and the Three Little Maids, among other characters. Book signing

‘We Built This City’

Children and their families participate in Polyglot Theatre’s “We Built This City,” where an entire city will be created from thousands of cardboard boxes at Arts Plaza. ‘Antigone’

A free, traveling performance of “Antigone” by Sophocles takes place at various points on the UC Irvine campus — Little Theatre, Aldrich Hall, Rowland Hall, the Physical Sciences building and the Langson Library. The performances are at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
