‘LagunaTots’ auditions loom

Laguna Beach’s No Square Theatre is casting for children to act, sing and dance in this year’s springtime production of “LagunaTots.”

The show, a children’s version of No Square Theatre’s annual “Lagunatics,” a production more suitable for adult audiences that lampoons Laguna Beach culture, will be directed by Ella Wyatt and written by Bree Burgess and Chris Quilter.

According to a flier from No Square Theatre, “LagunaTots” will be performed at Legion Hall, 384 Legion St, on May 11, 12 and 13 and May 18, 19 and 20.

The nonprofit amateur theater troupe will be scheduling auditions for boys and girls ranging from first-graders to high school seniors. The by-appointment only auditions will take place from 3 to 8 p.m. March 3 at the Legion Hall.

There is a possibility that an earlier round of auditions might scheduled after school on Wednesday, according to the flier.

Koontz coming to Laguna Playhouse

Best-selling author Dean Koontz will be appearing at the Laguna Playhouse for an evening program in April focusing on the Newport Beach resident and his writing.

“A Special Evening with Dean Koontz” will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach.

According to a news release from the Playhouse, Barbara Barrett Demarco, who hosts KUCI radio’s “Writers on Writing and Book Salon,” will be the moderator.

Sunday Gospel brunch is March 11

Singers Yve Evans & Company plus three will headline a “Champagne Gospel Brunch,” being presented by Laguna Beach Live! from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 11, at Tivoli Too!, 777 Laguna Canyon Road.

Evans, who also appears in Jazz Wednesdays in the Rose Garden of Hotel Laguna, another Laguna Beach Live! program, has twice won the Monterey Jazz Festival’s Musicians of the Year Award, according to a news release.

Tickets to the gospel brunch, which will be part of the Laguna Beach Culinary Weekend, are priced at $40 per person, can be purchased online at https://www.lagunabeachlive.org.
