South Coast Repertory hires new PR director

South Coast Repertory has hired a new public relations director, the Costa Mesa-based theater company announced last week.

Tania Thompson began her new post July 19, according to a news release.

Thompson takes over for Soyia Ellison, who left to work for Habitat for Humanity in Georgia.

Previously, Thompson was media relations director for the University of Idaho, according to the release. The Oregon native has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Oregon.

Her résumé includes doing media relations for Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Ore., communications writing for Cal State San Marcos, publicity for the performing arts at Portland State University, and nearly two decades in public radio as a reporter and producer in Portland.
