Adult theater classes being offered

The Laguna Playhouse will offer adult theater classes in January, according to a news release.

“Intro to Playwriting: Write, Direct and Share a Short Play” starts Jan. 15, and “Intro to Theatre: The Art and Business of Putting on a Show” starts Feb. 19.

Each class cost $250, with 25% discounts offered to seniors, students, Players Club members and Laguna Beach residents. Classes are limited to 10 people, and those interested do not need to have experience.

Playhouse Women host luncheon

The Playhouse Women of Laguna Playhouse are hosting a luncheon fundraiser featuring Sharrie Williams, author of “The Maybelline Story and the Spirited Family Dynasty Behind It,” from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $75 for the event.

Sharrie Williams’ book takes a look at Maybelline’s history from 1915 to its sale in 1967, according to a news release.

Deadline approaching for Festival of Arts

The deadline to apply for the 2013 Festival of Arts is 4 p.m. Oct. 26, according to a news release.

Interested artists should submit a CD with three digital images per medium and a completed application to the Festival of Arts, which can be downloaded at https://www.LagunaFestivalofArts.org or by calling (949) 464-4234.

Next year’s festival will run June 30 to Aug. 31.
