The Laguna Playhouse has received a $3,000 grant from the Laguna Beach Community Foundation to enhance its nonprofit work, the playhouse announced in a release Tuesday.

Through the grant, the playhouse plans to make its Moulton Theatre and other services available for events by outside groups, including the Laguna Dance Festival, the Laguna Beach Music Festival and concerts by the Laguna Concert Band. Without the grant money, the playhouse would have to remain “dark” on other dates to make up for the time devoted to those events, according to the release.

“Over the last several years, our Board of Trustees has placed an emphasis on expanding our role in the Laguna Beach performing arts community,” said Karen Wood, executive director of the playhouse, in a statement. “We are delighted to serve as an intimate center for performing arts presentations in Laguna Beach. The variety enriches us all.”
