All-female Irish musical ensemble Celtic Woman will return to the Segerstrom Center for the Arts on May 26 with a new album and live show, “Voices of Angels.”

Vocalists Mairead Carlin, Susan McFadden, Eabha McMahon and violinist Tara McNeill will celebrate the group’s 12 years of success with their latest album, which reached No. 1 on the Billboard World Chart.

“Voices” features arrangements recorded with the Orchestra of Ireland and spotlights a variety of the group’s original songs, new covers and rearranged versions of previous Celtic Woman songs.

The 11th studio album, with tracks like “Mo Ghile Mear,” “Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears” and “A Time for Us,” was released in November 2016 and kicked off a start of a new world tour that would reach more than 90 U.S. cities.

The group has sold more than 10 million albums and three million tickets worldwide.

“The Irish language is dying, and Celtic Woman is this modern way of bringing it to the mainstream,” said Carlin, calling from a North American tour stop in Tulsa, Okla. “We feel it’s our duty to keep it alive. Our heritage has a rich history of storytelling, and it’s important for us to keep up that legacy.”

Carlin, 28, who made her debut in Celtic Woman in 2013, has performed for the president of Ireland, toured the U.K. and Ireland with “American Pie” musician Don McLean, and made her debut with the National Symphony Orchestra.

She said the three fellow musicians have become sisters to her.

McFadden starred in the West End production of “Grease” and premiered in the U.K. production of “Legally Blonde: the Musical” as Elle Woods; McMahon became the youngest member to join Anuna, the original Riverdance choir; and McNeill, the group’s newest member, is the first multi-instrumentalist to join Celtic Woman as she brings her harp and voice to the group.

“Being a Celtic Woman and singing these songs — it’s a very spiritual experience for me,” Carlin said. “The lyrics are very touching, and we enjoy continuing to find these melodies from our ancestry and share them with audiences.”

Celtic Woman “Voices of Angels” tour is at 7:30 p.m. May 26 at Segerstrom Center for the Arts, 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa.Tickets start at $49. For more information, call (714) 556-2787 or visit scfta.org.
