Three boats in Newport Beach’s Balboa Yacht Basin were damaged in a boat fire Friday morning.

Fire officials said the call came in at around 10:36 a.m. for a single boat fire. About 24 personnel from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Newport Beach lifeguards and the Newport Beach Fire Department responded to the incident, authorities said.

Newport Beach Fire Battalion Chief Nic Lucas said the fire spread to two other vessels parked in slips beside a 31-foot boat where the fire originated, but that the flames were put out quickly. The fire caused significant damage to the 31-foot boat and a 36-foot boat. The third boat, also about 36 feet, received minor damage.
