Huntington Beach firefighters responded to a call reporting a structure fire in a commercial building located at 17742 Beach Boulevard at 9:20 a.m. on Friday.

Once on the scene, firefighters found smoke on the second floor of the three-story building, as had been indicated by the reporting party, but a blown-out light ballast had been the source of the smoke.

Firefighters went onto the roof to check the air conditioning unit, Jennifer Carey, a spokesperson for Huntington Beach, said.

“They were there for a while because they wanted to ensure that there wasn’t any additional smoke coming from anywhere else,” Carey said. “They checked every single office, and then firefighters were able to use natural ventilation, so opening windows, to clear out the smoke and then they left.”

Firefighters confirmed that there was no fire, and no injuries resulted from the incident, Carey added.
