Laguna Beach authorities asked the public to avoid the area of Forest Avenue and Second Street on Friday afternoon as firefighters worked to knock down a fire at a business.

The blaze at the Landmark Plaza at 361 Forest Ave. was reported just after 3 p.m., according to fire officials.

The area is expected to be blocked until about 6 p.m., authorities said.

The cause of the fire and the specific business affected were not immediately known.

Orange County Fire Authority and Newport Beach Fire Department crews were called to assist Laguna Beach firefighters.
