CdM girls triumph

The Corona del Mar High girls golf team won by the narrowest of

margins, 211-212, in the Pacific Coast League opener at Newport Beach

Country Club. CdM was led by Katie McKitterick at 1-over-par. Jonna

Kim followed with a 42.

The Sea Kings (3-0) play host to Beckman today.

Pirates improve to 2-0

* VOLLEYBALL: Kiwi Winkler showed her versatility with 19 blocks

and 13 digs as Orange Coast College’s women’s volleyball team beat

Cerritos, 30-16, 30-26, 30-15. On offense, the hosting Pirates

received 30 assists from Caitlin Parker.

OCC treks to San Diego City College Friday night.

Coast blanks foe

* SOCCER: Orange Coast College’s men’s soccer team scored their

fourth shutout of the season, blanking Cuyamaca, 4-0. Chris Dunckel

opened the scoring in the fourth minute. Joel Walker added two

insurance goals in the victory.

The Pirates (5-1-3) play Moorpark at home Friday.

Lions win on road

VOLLEYBALL: Vanguard’s women’s volleyball team was able to win in

three games Tuesday, 31-29, 30-28, 30-26, at Westmont. The Lions were

led at the net by senior Jaclyn Lee with 12 kills. Defensively, Keri

Deehas contributed 13 digs in the victory.

OCC wins close one

* WATER POLO: Orange Coast College’s women’s water polo team

Wednesday edged visiting Golden West, 7-6. Laura DeMeneces and

Tuesday Schellinger led the scoring with two goals apiece. Jeanette

DeMeneces tallied three assists. Katherine Anderson contributed 13

saves in the victory.
