Blue Diamonds shine in overtime victory

Paul Wirth, Lukas Welinder and Spencer Reeves scored goals in an overtime shootout to lift the Blue Diamonds past the Diablos, 5-2, in the championship final of the Smythe Division winter playoffs at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

The score was tied, 2-2, through regulation.

Welinder and Reeves also had scored in regulation and Kyle Skitco had an assist.

Thomas Wirth finished with 20 saves.

Campbell Division

Slashers 5, Ducks 3

Tanner Osterkamp scored three goals to lead the Slashers on offense. Clayton Culhane had a goal and two assists, Jesse Magallon a goal and assist and Bryce Hed, Markus Boyer and Riley Bozanich each had an assist.

Trent Shehan had 18 saves.

Jake Gealy scored two of the three Ducks’ goals. Jonah Mack had a goal and assist and Hakan Taban, Justin Ferrall and Noah Gealy had assists.

Tyler Gealy had 14 saves.

Norris Division

Dry Ice 7, Kings 4

Drew Truxaw scored the first four goals for Dry Ice in their win over the Kings.

Connor Cudeback had a goal and assist, Brayden Moore and Alexander Gomez scored and Alex Buyan had a pair of assists.

Blake Walker had 16 saves.

Casey Rhodes scored the first and last goals for the Kings, sandwiching scores by and Leanna Walker. Mitchell Sprague had an assist and Ethan Higbee 17 saves.

Howe Division

TnT 8, Kings 5

TnT outscored the Kings, 3-0, in the second period en route to winning the division.

Garrett Blackwell scored four consecutive goals for TnT. Marcus Kurth scored twice, Johnny Richardson had a goal and assist, Andrew Staffieri had a goal and Kobi Pekich an assist.

Jack Miller had 16 saves.

Brandon White scored three goals to pace the Kings. Andrew Medrano and Travis Bertrand each had a goal and assist, Matt Schnautz had an assist and Emmett Jaeger recorded 17 saves.
