OJAI — Corona del Mar High’s doubles team of Dustin Hladek and Fabian Matthews, the No. 1 seed, won each of its first two matches Thursday to advance to the Sweet 16 of the 107th Ojai Invitational.

Hladek and Matthews defeated Northwood’s Nicholas Nguyen and Brett Randolph, 6-3, 6-0, in the first round. In the second round, the duo beat Nordhoff’s Ian Kretzers and Casey Robbins, 6-2, 6-0, to qualify for today’s 9 a.m. match against San Marino’s Nick Chang and Albert Chu.

“This is an exciting event, because the team that Hladek and Matthews beat in CIF last year is the No. 2 seed and the tournament’s defending champion,” said CdM Coach Tim Mang, referring to Billy Grokenberger and James Ho of Santa Barbara.
