Grant named to Junior League board

Laguna Beach resident Kathryn Grant has been named communications director for the Junior League of Orange County, California, Inc.

Grant has been a member of the Junior League for seven years. She joined the organization in Palo Alto, where she was co-chair of the Breakfast at Tiffany’s event for the Annual Holiday Boutique.

After transferring to the Junior League of Orange County, she served as chair of the outreach and recruitment committee and the YMCA Project, as well as serving as training director.

Grant earned a bachelor’s degree from the UC Berkeley, and has spent her career in the aesthetic/cosmetic industry. She is president of TLC Cosmetic in Newport Beach, a management company specializing in dermatology. She and her husband, Robert, reside in Laguna Beach.

Additional members of the 2007-2008 board of directors include new president Stacey Kinney as well as MeeRan Kim-Anderson, Liana Augustini, Gwendolyn Black, Janet Colclaser, Carla Dillon, Laura Giles, Jennifer Martin, Kelly Northridge, Isabelle Ord, Kristin Scheithauer, and Erin Stone.

Funds raised annually by the Junior League are used to benefit charitable projects including the Orange County Bar Assn. Project Foundation, Orange County Children’s Therapeutic Arts Center, Casa Teresa Inc., Girls Inc., Bridges to Higher Learning, and Bear Hugs.

The organization also awards thousands of dollars in grants and scholarships each year.

The Junior League of Orange County, California, Inc., is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and the leadership of trained volunteers.

The nonprofit organization reaches out to women of all races, religions, and national origins. Originally founded in 1956 as the Newport Harbor Service League, the Junior League of Orange County, California, Inc., is a member organization of the Assn. of Junior Leagues International, Inc.
