Yogis to the stars

A new rejuvenation health spa in Laguna Beach promises to transform your life in just one week.

Established by world-renowned yogis Geo and Katresha Moskios, Blue Pearl Laguna — a name that signifies the “special gift” of blue-green light that one may experience through deep meditation — focuses on physical and spiritual transformation through yoga, hiking, meditation, massage and nutritional cleansing.

“We offer an escape from the world, unlike any other getaway,” Geo said. “It’s like spiritual boot camp.

“It’s been a longtime dream of ours to bring this 25-year program to a place where people can come and stay.”

Nestled in the canyon, the peacefully elegant 6,600-square-foot “home” hosts up to 12 clients at a time, and offers a private room and bath — each named after a beach in Laguna, indoor and outdoor yoga rooms, a common dining area and living space, private massage rooms, tranquil gardens, infrared sauna, pool and Jacuzzi.

A blend of soft white, brown and turquoise shades, accented with local artwork, crystals and orchids, create what Katresha calls a “Zen feel, with a little beach thrown in.”

The seven-day regimen, led by the Moskios’ and their trusted staff, consists of a detoxifying organic vegetable and fruit diet, a combination of power and gentle yoga, wilderness and beach hikes, meditation, healing techniques that focus on energy and the chakra system and traditional Swedish and Thai massage (a more rigorous type of massage used in Ayurveda, in which the therapist uses his or her hands, feet, knees and legs to move the body in a series of stretches).

It is imperative, Geo said, that equal attention is paid to the body and mind.

“The physical and spiritual are interconnected,” he said. “We can not attain [spiritual vitality] if our bodies are stressed.”

Routines are designed to flow with individual needs, so that each client’s daily progression unfolds at their own pace — making this a truly unique and special experience for everyone.

The Moskios’ have taught yoga worldwide for more than 30 years, cultivating an extensive A-list celebrity client base along the way.

A former student of Swami Vishnu-devananda and Indra Devi (known as “the first lady of yoga”), Geo is a certified hypnotherapist and iridologist who created Power Yoga in 1978, and has been working to improve it ever since.

Author of “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Power Yoga” (2000) and “Warrior Within: Yoga for the Average Man” (2007), he has also appeared on “Oprah” and CNN, and has worked with stars such as Cindy Crawford, Selma Hayak and Charles Barkley.

An Aussie model turned faith healer, Katresha studied nutrition and health with Dr. Bernard Jensen, by whom her current studies are still inspired, and has adopted techniques from teachers around the world, including South America, India and the Philippines. In addition to starting her own organic skincare line, she has taught yoga since 1975, and also continues to lead special women’s workshops.

Cost is $3,000 to $3,300, depending on accommodations. Blue Pearl Laguna also offers a more relaxed, three-day getaway with “fun vegetarian food” for $750.
