Candidate’s son is found dead in car

Paul Wagner, the son of state assembly candidate Don Wagner, was found dead Saturday morning in Newport Beach.

Wagner, 20, was discovered in his Acura SUV in an underground parking garage in the 2700 block of Newport Boulevard about 9:30 a.m., Orange County Sheriff Coroner officials said.

Newport Beach police Sgt. Steve Rasmussen said there was no indication of foul play or suicide and that police are investigating.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Don Wagner is running for state assembly in the 70th District.
