Police arrest suspect after she hit fiancé with her car

A Buena Park woman was apprehended Friday after allegedly hitting her fiancé with her car twice before attempting to run over foot officers and a police chase down Pacific Coast Highway, officials said.

Maureen Geddie, 65, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, hit-and-run, and driving under the influence of alcohol and was booked Friday into the Huntington Beach Jail, said Lt. Russell Reinhart, in an e-mail.

Geddie allegedly had an argument with her fiancé about 7:45 p.m. Friday in the beach parking lot on Pacific Coast Highway and Sixth Street and got into the car.

She allegedly reversed the car into her 60-year-old fiancé knocking him to the ground and then accelerated a second time hitting him again as he attempted to get up, Reinhart said.

Witnesses saw the incident and pulled the man out of the way while Geddie was allegedly attempting to hit him a third time.

Geddie left the parking lot and was met by police officers on foot when she stopped at a red light at PCH and Sixth. She allegedly tried to run over the officers as she ran the red light, Reinhart said.

The officers jumped out of the way and were unharmed.

Two other officers in a patrol car pursued Geddie southbound on PCH until she ran a second red light at First Street and collided with another vehicle.

Geddie surrendered to the officers after becoming stuck in traffic at Huntington Beach Street.

The fiancé sustained minor injured, but was not hospitalized, Reinhart said.

She is being held at the Central Jail Complex in Orange for $500,000 bail, according to Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s records.
