Five arrested in DUI checkpoint

Police made five arrests and screened more than 150 vehicles June 26 at a sobriety checkpoint downtown.

The Huntington Beach Police Department held a driving under the influence checkpoint from 9 p.m. to almost 2:30 a.m. on Main Street at Delaware Street.

Of the more than 450 cars that came through the checkpoint, 151 were screened for DUIs. Police administered 22 field sobriety tests leading to five arrests.

Officials also made one other criminal arrest, handed out six citations, three for unlicensed or suspended licenses, and impounded five vehicles.

More than 150 pamphlets on drinking and driving were also handed out.
