Police took a potentially suicidal man to the hospital July 14 after he was seen taking pills in traffic on South Coast Highway.

Police were alerted to the man’s mental state by a call from a woman who said her friend might be suicidal.

Woman arrested after yelling at police

Police arrested Anthony Romeo, 19, of Garden Grove at 11:35 p.m. July 16 on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol, Kravetz said.

The arresting officers turned the keys to his blue Yukon over to his passenger, advising her to park it.

Instead, Elizabeth Monique Luna, 18, of Rowland Heights followed police to the station where Romeo was taken to sober up.

When he was escorted into the station, Luna allegedly drove up and down the street honking her horn and yelling.

Watch Commander George Ramos went outside and Luna took off.

Ramos got into a police car and caught up with Luna on Broadway and took her into custody on suspicion of driving while drunk, less than 45 minutes after Romeo was arrested.

Illegal left turn yields a cache of marijuana

The car was searched after the patrol officer smelled marijuana and the driver admitted smoking a little weed.

Both men were transported to Orange County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Big mouth gets burglar caught

An off-duty police officer listened to a woman bragging on Sunday how she was going to steal alcohol from Coast Liquor Store on South Coast Highway and watched while she went to make good on her boast, Kravetz said.

Then he called the Police Department.

Police arrested Jade Ann Struwve, 19, of San Juan Capistrano, who had taken two bottles valued at $52 from the store, on suspicion of burglary.

Struwve was taken to Orange county Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
