Anne Hogan Shereshevsky Feb. 15, 1921 - -July 11, 2010

Anne Hogan Shereshevsky was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Feb. 15, 1921. At age 17, she entered the Catholic order, Daughters of Wisdom, subsequently earning a bachelor’s and master’s degree.

She taught English and French at Christ the King High School in Queens. After 29 years in the convent, she left religious life and moved to Orange County to join her sister, Mary, husband, Joe, and their five children. She married the late Jess Shereshevsky in 1977. She became a strong advocate for senior citizen issues, wrote a column for the Daily Pilot, and won Costa Mesa Volunteer of the Year in 2008. She was an active member in the Costa Mesa Senior Center as well as at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Costa Mesa.

She is proceeded in death by her three siblings, Edward, Mary and Michael. She is survived by her cousin, Bobby Thoms, and her five nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 2, 2010. at St. Joachim’s Church, 1964 Orange Ave., Costa Mesa.
