About $8,000 stolen from storage unit during repeat break-ins

A storage unit in Costa Mesa has been broken into repeatedly over the past 15 days, according to police.

About $8,000 in merchandise was taken from the unit at Public Storage, the victim told Costa Mesa police.

The theft at the facility at 2075 Newport Blvd. was reported about 5:17 p.m. Tuesday, according to police logs.

The renter told police the lock on the storage container had been repeatedly broken and that goods including camping equipment and a mini-fridge were stolen, said Lt. Bryan Glass.

The burglaries spanned May 15 through May 30, Glass said.

No one has been arrested in connection with the crime. No suspect information was available.
