Four-car pileup injures three

Four cars crashed at North Coast Highway and Emerald Bay, causing both northbound lanes to be closed Thursday morning, according to Laguna Beach police.

Three individuals were transported to Mission Hospital Mission Viejo with unknown injuries, Sgt. Louise Callus wrote in an e-mail. No arrests have been made.

"I do not have any further status on injuries or how this accident happened," she wrote.

Northbound traffic was backed up to Cress Street and Emerald Bay was reduced to one lane in both directions, Callus wrote. Tow trucks were on scene.
