‘Loud and Unruly Gathering’ ordinance announcement coming Thursday

A public announcement on a newly approved “Loud and Unruly Gathering” ordinance in Newport Beach is scheduled for to be announced Thursday at 9 a.m. at the City Council chambers, according to the city’s website.

The announcement comes just as police prepare to ramp up for the summer months, when many vacationers come into the city and, to the dismay of some locals, parties get out of hand.

It also comes two weeks before the Fourth of July, the busiest day of the year for Newport Beach police, said Sgt. Steve Burdette.
