Soul Survivor, Redemption churches merge

Share

Two Costa Mesa churches, Soul Survivor and Redemption, are merging.

Soul Survivor was founded 10 years ago and is known for working with the homeless and community nonprofits. Redemption is a 3-year-old church that meets in a space on Airway Avenue owned by a large local church, Rock Harbor.

Redemption and Soul Survivor will continue together under the name Redemption Church.

According to a news release, the pastors of the two churches met a few months ago and realized soon after that they shared the same visions and values, and they could do more good by merging their congregations.

“Ultimately, the church exists not for itself, but for the sake of the community of which we are a part,” Phil Wood, pastor of Redemption, said in a prepared statement. “Together we can do much more for the common good than we ever could alone.”
