Paddleboarding for a cause

Pacific Edge Hotel hosted a "Snack, Sip & Surf" event Sunday as part of Laguna Beach a la Carte – A Food & Wine Experience.

The afternoon included a friendly paddleboarding competition, with proceeds going to the Mauli Ola Foundation to support cystic fibrosis.

The winner of the paddleboard relay race was Team SUP Co. The team included Rob Rojas, a distance stand-up paddleboarder; Kala Alexander, a professional surfer and actor on "Hawaii Five-O;" owner of SUP Co. Tommy Donnelly; and Gillian Gibree, a professional stand-up paddleboarder on Team Roxy.

"I'm stoked and honored to have been part of the Mauli Ola Foundation event supporting my good friend Kala Alexander," Rojas said in a statement. " As a father of two children, I wholeheartedly support any organization that strives to improve the quality of life of any child. Thank you Mauli Ola for making the world a better place and may every child enjoy the 'Breath of Life.'"
